The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak stresses the necessity to do everything possible to change the attitude towards Parliament to positive. He expressed such idea answering Rada TV channel questions on Wednesday.
Answering questions, V.Rybak noted that as a Head of the Verkhovna Rada he experiences high responsibility. “At the post of a Head, everything possible should be done to make our Parliament European,” he said. “All deputies and people say that we can no longer live this way. We need European living standards”. Thereat, the Chairman of the Parliament reminded that eurointegrational course is prescribed in the program of each party.
According to V.Rybak, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada is obliged to organize the work of the higher legislative body. “We have to do our best to make the majority in the Verkhovna Rada hear the minority, and minority hear the majority, instead of dictating their terms,” he noted. He believes that to accomplish it, both deputies and the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat shall analyze the programs of all five parties that won the election and outline top priority tasks put forward by voters. “We should be above party programs, we should take our promises to voters and people in general, as a basis. People have been long waiting for this. They hope that nobody shall whistle in the new Parliament like during a football match,” he stressed. “We should stop fighting and start listening to each other,” he added.
V.Rybak reminded that the state has all the possibilities to realize reforms suggested by the President of Ukraine. They are not easy to be carried out, but the Verkhovna Rada should fulfill its promises, he noted and added that “the Parliament is a platform for discussions, where the thoughts of each deputy should be respected, since each deputy was supported by voters”.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was interviewed by parliamentary media Rada TV Channel, newspaper “Holos Ukrainy” and magazine “Viche” on Wednesday.
Full text of the interview shall be published in the newspaper “Holos Ukrainy” at the end of December this year, and in the “Viche” magazine in January 2013.
